General Information

           XIIIth International Conference on "Selected Problems of Modern Theoretical Physics" (SPMTP'08) to be held in Dubna on June 23 - 27, 2008 is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of D.I. Blokhintsev (1908-1979), an outstanding Russian physicist, organizer, and the first director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR).    

            The conference is a continuation of the conferences initiated by D.I. Blokhintsev, first, in the form of small workshops on nonlocal and nonlinear  field theories. The first workshop of this series was held in Dubna in 1967.  Later, these workshops gradually transformed into the representative international conferences on fundamental problems of quantum field theory and advanced mathematical physics.

            The total number of participants is expected to be about 180. The conference program will include review talks at plenary sessions and original contributions at several parallel sections. The conference language will be English. One of the  sessions will be devoted to the scientific and organizational activity of D.I. Blokhintsev.

            The conference topics correspond to those areas of theoretical physics to which D. I. Blokhintsev  has made significant contributions and which are extensively developed in the Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at JINR.

            The main topics:

-         Quantum Chromodynamics (Structure of Hadrons, Generalized and Spin Distribution Functions; Confinement, Chiral Symmetry and Hadronization in QCD; Heavy Quark Physics; Heavy Ion Collisions and Quark Matter)

-         Electroweak  Theory and Its Extensions,  Unification

-         Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology

-         Modern  Mathematical Physics (Quantum Symmetries and Integrable Systems; Supersymmetry; Quantum Gravity and Strings; Non-commutative QFT)

            The conference proceedings  will be published by the JINR Publishing Department.

            For registration at SPMTP'08, please  fill in the  enclosed application form and send it to Dr. S. Nedelko, or use the on-line registration form at http://theor.jinr.ru/~spmtp/.  Deadline for application and abstract submission  is  April 15, 2008.

            The registration fee is 160 Euro for a participant and 90 Euro for an accompanying person. It covers the transportation by car from Moscow airport to Dubna and back, the break refreshments, social program, and a copy of the Proceedings of the Conference. Reduced fee is 90 Euro (excluding transportation). The Organizing Committee is looking for a possibility of providing the financial support for the participants from Russia and other members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

       Arrival of the participants to Dubna is expected to be on Sunday, June 22, and the departure on Saturday, June 28.
