The
International
Summer School on Physics of Few-Body Systems will be organized
by the Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics, JINR, Dubna on
August 7
- 17, 2006 in the framework of the program DIAS-TH. The topics of the
School
are the following
- Scattering theory for quantum
systems of several particles
- Few-body Coulombic systems
- Few-body resonances
- Numerical approaches to solving
few-body bound-state, resonance and scattering problems
- Amazing phenomena in three-body
systems (Efimov and Thomas effects, Borromean binding, halo systems)
- Practical use of few-body processes
including the security applications
The lectures
are expected to be supplemented by evening
discussion sessions. There is a preliminary agreement with the leading
experts concerning several review lectures on recent developments in
the field. Short reports of the students will be also encouraged.
PhD
students and young postdocs are expected to
be participants of the School.
The total
number of the School participants will be about
60. The deadline for application is June 20, 2006.
The arrival day is August 6, 2006. The departure day is
August 17, 2006.
There is a
limited number grants for
participants from Russia, Ukraine and other FSU countries, Germany,
Republic
of Poland, Czech Republic and Romania. Possibly there will be
several
grants for participants from other Eastern European countries. The
requests
for financial support should be sent to the Organizing
Committee
before June 20, 2006.
