Spontaneous breaking of the conformal symmetry by means of radiative corrections in QFT models is discussed. The φ4 model is evaluated in detail following the original paper by S.Coleman and E.Weinberg [PRD’1973]. Their construction is extended using the concept of IR/UV connection and the effective theory approach. The same mechanism is applied also for the φ4+Yukawa model. Implications for the conformal symmetry breaking in the Standard Model and in QCD are discussed. The hierarchy problem in the Standard Model is addressed.
