The Conference on Symmetries
in Physics organized by the BogoliubovLaboratory of Theoretical Physics of
the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in collaboration with the
Center for Advanced Studies atYerevan
State University is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Professor Ya.A. Smorodinsky's
birth. Professor Ya.A. Smorodinsky (1917-1992)was an outstanding theoretical physicist.
For many years he worked atthe
Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the Russian Research Centre"Kurchatov Institute". He made important
contributions to many fields of theoretical
physics, especially, elementary particle and nuclear physics. His special love was the application
of group theory in physics, the
theory of special functions anddynamical
symmetries. The purpose of the Conference is to bring together scientists who knew Yakov Abramovich
Smorodinsky personally or experienced
the powerful influence of his works and ideas.
The scientific programme
of the Conference will cover the following topics:
Integrable and superintegrable models;
Supersymmetry in quantum mechanics and field theory;
Gravitation and cosmology;
Lie groups, representation theory and special functions;
Noncommutative geometry and quantum groups;
Symmetries in nuclear, atomic and molecular physics.
The programme of the Conference and the participants
will be defined by the International Organizing Committee.
Participation will be by personal invitation only.
