Phenomenology
beyond the BCS theory
Making a slight generalization
of the BCS model, by allowing the chemical potential to take different values
inside the attraction band, I show that the phenomenology can be dramatically
enriched. This may lead to a discontinuous phase transition (the energy gap has
a jump at the phase transition), two solutions for the energy gap equations,
etc. I show both zero temperature [1] and finite temperature results [2].
