NTAA07: General Information
Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics

DIAS-TH: Dubna International Advanced School of Theoretical Physics

General Information:

The Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research organizes the International Summer School "Nuclear Theory and Astrophysical Applications" (NTAA07). The school will be held at Dubna, Moscow Region, Russia, on August 7 - 17, 2007.

The International Summer School will be devoted to problems of theoretical nuclear physics and their astrophysical applications. The program of the school contains such questions as structure of a atomic nucleus and nuclear reactions on borders of stability, charge-exchange reactions and their role in astrophysical processes, double beta-decay and a problem of the neutrino mass, a superdense nuclear matter and phase transitions. The following topics will be included:

  • nuclear asymmetry energy and its astrophysical consequences,
  • clusters and features of their structure and reactions,
  • nuclear synthesis in stars and in the laboratory,
  • neutrino interactions with nuclei / nuclear matter and supernovae,
  • condensation and phase transitions in dense matter.

Lectures will be centered around theoretical tools in nuclear structure and many-body physics. The tentative list of lecturers:

  • Gennadi Bisnovatyi-Kogan (Moscow): Magnetic fields of neutron stars
  • Sergei Ershov (JINR): Halo nuclei
  • Rostislav Jolos (JINR): Density functional methods in nuclear physics
