General Information:

The Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and JINR University Centre organize the International Summer School "Nuclear Theory and Astrophysical Applications" (NTAA05). The school will be held at Dubna, Moscow Region, Russia, on July 26 - August 4, 2005.

The International Summer School will be devoted to problems of theoretical nuclear physics and their astrophysical applications. The program of the school contains such questions as structure of a atomic nucleus and nuclear reactions on borders of stability, charge-exchange reactions and their role in astrophysical processes, double beta-decay and a problem of the neutrino mass, a superdense nuclear matter and phase transitions. The following topics will be included:

• nuclear excitations at various energies,
• nuclei at high angular momenta and temperature,
• structure and reactions at limits of nuclear excitation,
• reactions of fusion and properties of superheavy elements,
• clusters and features of their reactions and structure,
• phase transitions in nuclear matter and neutron stars,
• neutrino interactions with nuclei / nuclear matter and supernova.

Lectures will be centered around theoretical tools in nuclear structure and many-body physics:

• quantum statistical many-body physics,
• shell-model Monte-Carlo techniques,
• fermionic molecular dynamics,
• reaction dynamical networks.
