The bones of DMRG

The Density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) method has been in the thick of things for simulation of condensed matter physics. The number of preprints involving DMRG have been growing exponentially every year; it can be seen from the site http://quattro.phys.sci.kobe-u.ac.jp/dmrg/condmat.html which tries to collect all the preprints using DMRG method. We will try to understand the basics of DMRG method in the following paragraphs.

- To understand DMRG first one needs to get his head around the Density matrix. There
