SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT
The XXXII International Symposium on Multiparticle
Dynamics (ISMD XXXII), organized by the Joint Institute for Nuclear
Research (JINR) and the Bogolyubov Institute for Theoretical
Physics (BITP), will be held in Alushta (Crimea, Ukraine) from 7
to 13 September 2002. The ISMD is one in a traditional
Symposium series covering the most important topics of
multiparticle dynamics in physics of elementary particles, heavy
ions and astrophysics.
Programme
A special commemorative session will be held in honor of Bo Andersson,
prominent scholar in the held of multiparticle physics, who suddenly died
on March 4, 2002.
The programme of the Symposium includes the following
topics:
Fluctuations and correlations
Soft and hard phenomena
Relativistic heavy ion collisions
Hadronic final states in e+e-, lh and hh
QCD in multiparticle production
Diffraction production
CP violation in multiparticle dynamics
Low-x and very high multiplicity physics
Astroparticle physics
About 150 scientists are expected to attend the Symposium.
The opening of the Symposium will be held on September 8, 2002 at
10.00 a.m. at the Holiday House "Dubna" in Alushta.
The arrival day is Saturday, September 7

Fees
The Symposium fee of 600 USD, payable in cash upon
arrival, covers six-day accommodation, meals, the cost of
transportation from Simferopol airport or railway station to the
Holiday House and back, the Symposium materials, welcome party,
banquet, coffee breaks, social events and all organized activities
during the Symposium.
Accompanying persons
Accompanying persons can be registered together with a participant.
The fee for accompanying person is 370 USD and includes:
six-day accommodation in the Holiday House "Dubna", meals, the cost of
transportation, the welcome reception, banquet, coffee breaks, social
events and the accompanying persons excursion.
Social Programme
The social programme will include a Welcome Party on Sunday evening,
September 8, an excursion
on Tuesday afternoon, September 10, and a banquet on Thursday, September 12.
We are also planning to arrange a programme for accompanying persons.
Pre- and post-Symposium tour for extra charge to Yalta, Foros, Hersones
(ancient Greek settlement), Bakhchisarai (cave town), Novy Svet, crimean
mountains, caves, Nikitski Botanical Garden and other sights may be arranged
by an individual request.
The Venue
The Symposium will be held on the southern coast of the
Crimea, at the JINR's comfortable Holiday House "Dubna". The
Holiday House is situated about 200 meters off the Black Sea
beach. The climate in the area is typically Mediterranean.
Sportswear and camping outfit are recommended. Post-Symposium
tours for extra charge to Yalta, Foros, Sevastopol (Sebastopolis),
Hersones (ancient Greek settlement), Bakhchisarai (ancient Tatar
capital), Novy Svet and other sights may be arranged by individual
request. More social programme (excursions etc.) will be organized
for accompanying persons.
Travel information
The nearest airport is in Simferopol, capital of the Crimea. There
are direct weekly flights between Frankfurt and Simferopol only on
Saturdays. Simferopol has direct air connection also with Tel Aviv
and Istanbul. Transit via Moscow or Kiev is also recommended.
There are two (overnight) trains from Kiev to Simferopol, one leaving
at 16:05 and arriving at 07:42, the other one leaving at 17:13 and
arriving at 09:15. The Symposium bus will pick up the participants
in Simferopol and take them to Alushta.
The trains from Simferopol to Kiev leave at 17:58 and at 19:45, arriving
at Kiev at 11:48 and 13:35, respectively.
The alternative way is to fly to Simferopol. There will be several
daily flights from Moscow and Kiev to Simferopol in September, but not
all of them are indicated in the international networks. The summer season
flight schedule will be known in June. The shedule and other details will
be given in the next Announcement.
The Organizing Committee will arrange transportation to Alushta
(Holiday House "Dubna") for participants arriving at the airport
or the railway station in Simferopol (about 50 km from Alushta).
Those wishing to be met at the airport/railway station in
Simferopol should inform the Symposium secretary by e-mail:
natasha@cv.jinr.ru
or by fax: 7 (096 21) 65599/65891
or e-mail: olgau@gluk.org or
by fax: ++38-044-2665998 of
their flight/train number, date and time. The information should
reach the Symposium secretary as soon as a participant has a
ticket but not later than five working days before arrival. The
participants can reach Alushta from Simferopol by bus or by
trolley. It takes about one hour. The address of the Holiday House
"Dubna" is Naberezhnaya st. 20, Alushta, Crimea,
Ukraine; tel.: (06560) 31588/31508; Fax: (06560) 35250.
Accommodation
All the participants will be accommodated in the Holiday House
"Dubna".
Participation
Participation at the Symposium will be by invitation to be sent to
each attendee after considering his registration forms and
abstracts. Both the registration form and templates of the abstract
are available on the Web Site:
http://thsun1.jinr.ru/ismd2002/
E-mail and Laptop Service
A limited number of PC's will be available for participants
to read their e-mail. There will also be a number of possibilities for
participants to connect their laptop computers.
Visa information
Please note: Ukranian and Russian visas are to be
obtained
separately. Those wishing to visit Ukraine and Russia
(as a transit) have to apply for both visas. The letters
of support for visa will be sent by the Organizing Committee
together with the official invitation. The Russian visa should
include Moscow and Dubna. The Organizing Committee will support the
visa application only for the period of the Symposium (including
the transit through Russia if necessary).
Citizens from the former Soviet Union do not need the Ukranian
visa. Citizens from the Eastern European countries
except the Czech Republic and Slovakia do not need the Ukranian
