VII WORKSHOP ON HIGH ENERGY SPIN PHYSICS
|
INFORMATION BULLETIN
|
16 years ago the Symposium on High Energy Spin Physics
was held in Dubna chaired by Prof. L.I. Lapidus.
This was followed by the series of biennual workshops in Protvino,
in the odd years, between International Symposia,
hosted by Institute for High Energy Physics.
As Protvino is chosen as a place of
SPIN-98 Symposium, the 1997 Workshop
will take place in Dubna on July 7-12,
under the sponsorship of JINR and
the International Committee for High Energy Spin Physics Symposia.
About 120 scientists from different laboratories are expected to participate.
Scientific Programme
The workshop will cover a wide range of spin phenomena at high and intermediate
energies such as:
- Spin as a Tool for Test of the Standard Model
- Spin Physics and QCD
- Spin Physics beyond the Standard Model
- Spin as a Tool for Test of Basic Symmetries
- Experimental Data on Spin Physics
- Acceleration and Storage of Polarized Beams
- Polarized Ion and Electron Sources
- Polarized Solid and Gas Jet Targets and Storage Cells
- Polarimeters for High Energy Polarized Beams
- Channeling in Spin Physics
- Polarization and Heavy Ion Physics
- Spin Physics at RHIC (meeting of RHIC Spin Collaboration is planned)
Organization
The Workshop will be located in the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics
of the Joint Institute Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna, Moscow Region,
Russia.
The Workshop working language will be English .
Plenary sessions and parallel sections will be organized.
The plenary sessions will be held in the Conference Hall.
The parallel sections will be organized in the same
building.
The invited speakers will give plenary talks about new experimental and
theoretical results and recent progress in technology. The time alloted for
an invited talk should not exceed 30 minutes, and that for an original
reports, 15 minutes. The participants can submit original reports to
the Organizing Committee.
Publication
The contributions will be published soon after the Workshop and will be sent
out to all the registered participants.
The volume of the original reports,
including tables, figures and references should not be more than 4 pages
and that of the invited talks not more than 10 pages.
Transport and Accommodation
Dubna is a quiet and pleasing town lying 132 km north of Moscow on the
picturesque banks of the Volga river. Its surroundings offer peaceful
rural scenery which, though having no famous monuments, keeps memories
of the past. Two hours trip brings you to Moscow, to Sergiev Posad,
the Russian Orthodox center with its 500-year-old Trinity
Monastery.
Participants and accompanying persons will be transported
from/to the Moscow airport Sheremetievo or any
Moscow railway station by the JINR transport.
Information on the arrival date and flight/train number
is necessary a few days before the Workshop.
During the Workshop the participants will be accommodated at the local
Dubna hotel. Single and double rooms will be available.
No local transport is needed.
Climate
In July temperature usually fluctuates from +15/18 C at night up to
+20/25 C in the daytime and the rain is likely possible.
Visa and Registration
The registration fee will be US $400 (in cash only) for participants
and US $300 for accompanying persons. The registration fee
includes: car transportation from the Moscow airport or railway
stations to Dubna and back, hotel accommodation, coffee breaks,
welcome party, banquet, social events, a copy of the Symposium
Proceedings. The fee will be collected in Dubna.
To arrange visa support participants are kindly requested to inform
the Organizing Committee of their personal data (see Registration
Form). The included Registration Form, duly filled up, has to be
sent before May 1, 1997 to:
